SON HOUSE, Father Of Folk Blues, LP

You really can’t go wrong with Son House. He helped define the Blues in the 1930s and ’40s, his impassioned vocal delivery and brutal guitar method laying the groundwork for everything to come. After over a decade and a half in retirement, he was “rediscovered” by the then-burgeoning folk-blues movement, and in the mid-60s, made his first official recordings in over twenty years. Some of the guitar chops are a bit rusty but he played with the same intensity he’d always had. This is a true slice of music history, give it a shot.
