PIXIES, Trompe Le Monde, LP

Trompe le Monde is the fourth studio album by the American alternative rock band Pixies, released on September 23, 1991 on 4AD in the United Kingdom and on September 24, 1991 on Elektra Records in the United States. Recorded in Burbank, California, Paris and London, the album was produced by Gil Norton, and was Pixies’ final studio album before their subsequent break-up two years later. Trompe le Monde is the last album to feature founding bass guitarist Kim Deal.

I always recall the now (somewhat) famous quote, “I never could get over the fact that The Pixies formed, worked and separated without America taking them to its heart or even recognizing their existence for the most part” by David Bowie. But many years latter many more Americans have taken them to heart for sure. The Pixies have made their mark and will go down in the history of rock ‘n’ roll as one of the best, most influential bands of all time. This is obvious now.  Breathed fresh air into rock ‘n’ roll they did! In the late 80s they were an alternative and those with ears to hear paid attention. In any case Pixies albums sound as vital and rocking as it did so many years ago when it was first recorded. “Trompe le Monde” has more and more been appreciated over the years, as had the rest of the band’s incredible sounds. Love it.
